Judy Leasure, Artist
My name is Judy Leasure. I am an artist and teacher working in pastels and colored pencil.
I live in Western Pennsylvania with my husband and Lakeland Terrier, Windy.
I have enjoyed doing creative things ever since childhood and have been painting seriously for over 15 years. I started painting in watercolor and then began doing decorative painting in acrylics. In 2008, I started working with colored pencil and very quickly found that I love the dry media. Soon after that, I found pastels and they have become my true passion.
My work is realistic and my subject matter is primarily animals and still life. I enjoy the challenge of creating the illusion of three dimensions on a two dimensional surface. It is my goal with all of my pet portraits to create a likeness that speaks to the hearts of the owners and shows the character and personality of the animal.
I teach classes in my home and at regional conferences. I am on the teaching staff at the Sawmill Center for the Arts in the Cooks Forest in west central Pennsylvania during the summer. One of my newest teaching endeavors is live classes over the Internet using Skype.
My work is exhibited in local galleres and has appeared in the Annual Miniature Show in Chambersburg, PA, and the Seaside Art Gallery Miniature Show in Nags Head, NC.
In October of 2010, I became a juried artist in the PA Wilds Artisan Trail program.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope that you enjoy my work. Please contact me for more information about commissioned portraits or classes.
